Ocean Waves Guest House
Middle Island St. Kitts

Nestled between the rolling hills of Mount Liamuiga to the North and the cool breeze of the Caribbean Sea in the South, Ocean Waves Guest House offers a tranquil Oasis to the adventurous traveler in the midst of historic Middle Island.  As you meander West on St. Kitts main road breathing in the fresh air and taking in the beautiful vistas, you will come upon Ocean Waves Guest House, on the left, in a mere twenty minutes from the capitol Basseterre.  Just enough time to let your stress float away.

Ocean Waves Guest House, is the heart of owner Euriel Herbert, affectionately known as “Herbie”, who has created a comfortable home away from home for visitors to St. Kitts. The front façade, discrete and un-assuming, offers guests private quarters to rest and revive their tired spirits after a long journey.  The rooms are inviting, cozy and secure.  There are a number of areas on the premises that cater to all of your needs.  You can relax on the “Oasis Patio” while over-looking the great expanse of the Caribbean Sea, you can enjoy drinks at “Herbie’s Bar”, watch TV, play a match of domino’s or you can lounge on the roof-top “Vista Patio”, which offers a spectacular panoramic view of the mountains.

To enjoy the full cultural experience, you don’t have to travel far.  Middle Island’s immediate surroundings offer a number of wonderful opportunities.  Twenty feet east of Ocean Waves Guest House you will find “Middle Island Anglican Church”, the first Anglican Church in the Eastern Caribbean, which is now the burial site of both Sir Thomas Warner the first English Governor of the West Indies in 1814 and Samuel Jefferson II, ancestor of Thomas Jefferson the third President of the United States of America.  Explore nearby historic sites a short bus ride away in either direction; to the west visit “Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park” named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
To the east “Caribelle Batik” situated on Romney Manor is a place where you can watch a demonstration of Batik Printing and purchase garments dyed right on the premises.  Once owned by Samuel Jefferson II, it’s the site of where the Carib Indian Chief Tegreman’s Village was situated.  You will see their ancient rock carvings known as “Petroglyphs” and you can also see a three-hundred and fifty year old Saman tree whose diameter spans twenty-four feet.  Experienced tour guides can take you on a hike up Mount Liamuiga into the rainforest to see the volcano.

If you want to take a more low-key approach you can visit the fishing village of Old Road, five minutes away from Middle Island and see what ‘Catch of the Day’ the Fisheries have for sale.  Or, if you just want to enjoy a delicious meal you can visit family owned and operated restaurant “Sprat Net” in Old Road known for their famous lobster, fish or ribs in a relaxed environment by the Sea.

Ocean Waves Guest House is more than just a place to rest your wary head.  It offers numerous choices to satisfy your needs.  When you stay at Ocean Waves Guest House you will realize that “Relaxing in St. Kitts, has never been so much fun!” Visit www.oceanwavesguesthouse.co.uk

REGGAE SINGER ZEMENFES KIDUS MAKES CONTRIBUTION TO VERCHILDS HIGH

On the morning of November17th 2010, Selwyn Caines also known as Reggae Artist "Zemenfes Kidus" carried out the role of caring parent and active citizen in the Federation of St.Christopher and Nevis as he presented some much needed supplies to Verchilds High School, where some of his very own children were students.

When called upon to assist with some light fixtures for the school he rose to the occasion, knowing that his contribution would directly improve the school environment and impact the students in a positive way.  Mr. Caines has had a long-standing relationship with Verchilds High School and has always taken a pro-active role within Verchilds Community making himself available to the Parent/ Teachers Association, willing to lend a hand in anyway necessary.

As a Musician his caring nature and genuine concern for unity among people is apparent in his songs "I Cry" from the album "Stand Firm and Strong", "Global Warming" from the album "Judgment" and "About the Situation" released earlier this year, which speak about issues that we, as a society, should be striving to improve.

TUNE IN SATURDAYS 11AM- 3PM AT SUGAR CITY ROC 90.3 TO HEAR CREATION PLAY "BACK TO BASICS"

“Masta P’s” Vision is to bring all the artistes and musicians in St. Kitts-Nevis Together, in order to create a National Music Identity.

Twenty-Five Year Veteran DJ and Sound Man “Masta P” a.k.a “Creation” has traveled across the waters from his U.K. base and returned to his Kittitian-Nevisian Rootz to put a different Spin on Reggae Music and send on conscious Vibezzzz to the Massive.

His Love for music was born at a very early age when his Mother Rhoda, who herself had a passion for music, had him as her personal selector playing Calypso and Rub-a-Dub for her own house parties.

His journey into live sessions started in 1985 when he chat lyrics for a Sound System in Birmingham named “Hi-tech” under the alias “Young Love”.  Then, he jumped on another sound named “Sovereign City” and chat lyrics for both until 1990.  His fast chatting skills gained him notoriety as an entertainer and lead him to the Sound “Classic Groove”, where he remained for three years (1990-1993) gaining Nuff experience playing the Birmingham circuit; Frontline, FCF, 104, Porsche Club, The Malt Shovel, The Irish Centre .  “Bigger Don” a member of “Classic Groove”, was also a Radio DJ on “Metro FM” station and used to link “Masta P” to represent at some of his events.

Next, “Masta P” and his cousin Levi Teacher created a Sound named “Love Expression” branded for the female crowds that they attracted with their R & B and Rub-a-Dub tunes.  At this time Dub Plates were the new lick, which lead him to write lyrics stay competitive when clashing against other Sounds.  After juggling two sounds for a while he decided to go it alone and started “Creation Family” Sound in 1998 cutting his own dub plates co-opting support from British Artists; Asha Barns, Chrissy May, Sugar Black, Peter Spence, Peter Culture, Vivian Jones and Steel Pulse and many more.  In 2000 “Soldier” the best Reggae and Bashment DJ and “Danger” the best R&B and Soul DJ joined “Creation Family” and took it to another level.  The Sound played all over Birmingham, London and also traveled to Europe to spin tunes.

In 2001 he brought his unique style of spinning tunes to the Caribbean playing popular St. Kitts Venues; Rainbow, Ziggy’s, Club Kactus, Island Rhythms, Sugars, Barry’s Bar and the St. Kitts Marriott.  Now, you can hear “Masta P” jamming conscious tunes at Sugar City Roc 90.3 on his show “BACK TO BASICS”.  More about Creation check the following link www.myspace.com/creationfamilyinternational
